A Day to Remember !

Some days on the water become memories that last a lifetime, and this was definitely one of them.

I had the pleasure of spending the day on the water with an awesome 8-year-old angler who was full of excitement from the moment we launched the boat. After working a few productive spots and learning the basics of targeting big fish, the moment we'd been hoping for finally arrived.

His rod bent over, the drag started screaming, and after an exciting battle, an absolute giant surfaced beside the boat—a stunning 43-inch Northern Pike! The smile on his face said it all. Catching a fish of that size is an incredible accomplishment for any angler, let alone someone who is only eight years old. It was a true trophy and a memory he'll never forget. The lure was a classic silver minnow tipped with a white grub tail.

As if the day couldn't get any better, we also put together a nice shore lunch. We headed to shore, fired up the pan, and enjoyed a classic walleye shore lunch. There's nothing quite like eating fish you've caught just minutes earlier while taking in the beauty of the outdoors.

Watching young anglers experience moments like these is one of the best parts of being a fishing guide. It's not always about the biggest fish—it's about creating lifelong memories, and sharing a passion for the outdoors.

Congratulations to this young fisherman on an incredible 43-inch Northern Pike! I can't wait to see what trophy is next.
